Video: Building a Wood-fired Kiln

The website of Syracuse, New York, artisan, Tim See, shows flames leaping up against a background of brick. It’s edgy. He also does steam punk very well and I happen to think clay is the perfect medium for this genre. His work shows he has a good sense of humor, the ability to work uniquely with specific motifs. He has the devotion of a professional artist and works with raku, wood-firing, porcelain and terra-cotta, according to his website. In this video, See and friends build a wood-burning kiln from the ground up. The video has been well-edited, has good production values, and has a staccato, James Ellroy feel. The style is spare, the pace is quick; it feels super-charged.
